The Spellchasers trilogy – what happens next?
After hearing a sneaky snippet of one of the most dramatic moments of the story so far, the lucky pupils from Flora Stevenson and Stockbridge Primary Schools predicted what would happen to Molly and friends in the rest of the Spellchasers trilogy.
Lari let us know what she thought of some of their predictions!
“I think that one of the characters will die”
It’s so hard for me to decide whether or not to kill characters off! I don’t like to do it (I care about all my characters, even the baddies, also I don’t like the idea of upsetting readers and, honestly, I don’t really want to upset myself either.) But writers have to be ruthless, these are dark and dangerous adventures, and I can’t promise to keep everyone alive.
“They will have a battle to decide if their curse is lifted”
I love writing fight scenes! And my ambushes and attacks do get bigger and more scary as we go through the trilogy. So, look out for some serious action in The Shapeshifter’s Guide to Running Away, but I might have kept the biggest battle for the finale of the whole trilogy…
“They will go find more monsters”
Aha! More monsters are always a good idea in an adventure! But Molly and her friends don’t often go looking for monsters – maybe the monsters find them!
“Molly uses loads of shapeshifting to save her friends and herself”
Molly is certainly going to do her best to save everyone. But it might not work…
“I think the curse is going to get worse and she might turn into other animals!”
There will be more curses, there will be WORSE curses, and there will be more shapeshifting, because ‘worse’ always makes for a better adventure, but I’m not going to give any more away that that!
“Molly might have a great big adventure”
I hope Molly does have a great big adventure – all the way to the end of the trilogy! I also hope you have an adventure reading about the magic she meets…
The Shapeshifter’s Guide to Running Away, the second book in Lari Don’s Spellchasers trilogy is available now. Look out for The Witch’s Guide to Magical Combat, the dramatic final book in the trilogy, coming Autumn 2017.
Lari Don will be bringing Spellchasers to bookshops across Scotland this Spring. Check out the full list of events here.
