Lewis and Greg might have accidentally turned their mum into a seven-foot tall green monster and their best friend into a yeti –- but it wasn't their fault!

All they did was recite an ancient rhyme. Now St Andrews looks more like Middle Earth and Loki (Yeah, that Loki, the Norse god of mischief!) says the world will stay this way forever.

But how will the brothers stop him with a gang of angry Valkyries on their tail? Can two ordinary boys outwit the god of mayhem?

Reviews

'Aimed at the 8 to 11 year olds this is fun and weird at the same time. There are lessons to be learnt by the boys including the importance of family. The mixing of school. Scotland and Loki works well and whilst enjoying the storyline the reader is also gaining information about Norse mythology. This was a book I enjoyed and would be happy to have in a school library.'
-- Books for Keeps

'The book is written with great wit and an abundance of one-liners ... this is a fun story that rattles along and works on every level. Harris (Bob) doesn't talk down to his readers. He assumes they can work out that Greg is lazy and Lewis is smart, that Lindsay has a crush on Greg. His dialogue is clever and entertaining, though not beyond the ages of his characters, one for Sunday Times and QI afficionados.'
-- Lothian Life

'A hugely enjoyable romp ... Lots of irresistible page turners and a hugely satisfying ending.'
-- Annemarie Allan, author of Hox, Breaker and Ushig

'A boisterous, funny and magical tale of ancient myth hitting the streets of the modern world with a bang. You might think brainy Lewis and easy-going Greg get what's coming to them, but you'll still be cheering them on as they navigate Valkyries, dragons and a host of other unexpected epic pitfalls -- and all because they were trying to avoid a maths test! Robert Harris is a master of the hilarious.'
-- Elizabeth Wein, author of Code Name Verity and Rose Under Fire

'A magical romp through streets of St Andrews.'
-- Jane Yolen, author of Dragon's Blood and Wizard's Hall

'This is a very funny addition to the "myth, magic and the everyday" genre with two endearingly distaster-prone heroes, plenty of action, larger than life (literally) characters and some very amusing jokes. This title should be popular with fans of humour and fantasy and would be a good choice for "Beast Quest" fans looking to try something different.'
-- The School Librarian
