Harris the Hero
A Puffin's Adventure
"Where do you live, little seal?" Harris said.
"I live on an island with one rocky head. But now I cant find it. Which way should I go?"
Well, Harris looked round, and then answered, "I know!"
Harris the puffin wants adventure and fun and maybe a new friend. But what he finds is a baby seal who needs his help
'The book is written in rhyming couplets by Lynne Rickards and is delightfully illustrated by Gabby Grant.'
-- Lothian Life
'The book is melodic to read, with lively, colourful pictures. Clearly the author loves the region and has bought the wilds of Scotland to life in the book, aided beautifully by the pictures. It is a happy book with a strong humorous vein. This would be a good 'read aloud' book, but also a moderate reader could enjoy learning the words and phrases helped by the rhythmic text.'
-- Armadillo Magazine
'The animals are charming and the pathos of the baby seal gives quite an emotional tug. A light airy touch with colour allows the sense of space and fresh sea breezes through.'
-- Books for Keeps
'You could spend hours poring over the illustrations alone in this book, as it is full of superb pictures giving us a bird's-eye view of landscapes and stunning shorelines and seascapes. The enormous attention to detail in the portrayal of all the different birds and animals means we have a real feast for the eye here.'
-- The School Librarian
'Written in a lovely rich rhyme, this is a delightful story, with a gentle underpinning message about how, through helping others, we can often help ourselves. Bright colourful illustrations add warmth and gentleness to a lovely tale. This picture book is particularly suitable for reading aloud and sharing together.'
'A sweet picture book, especially for children who love puffins and birds.'
--Youth Services Book Review
'Lynne Rickards and Gabby Grant make the concept of helping others fun and palpable for preschoolers and elementary school age children!'
