Kelpies Design & Illustration Prize
We are excited to announce the winner of the Kelpies Design & Illustration Prize 2017! Congratulations to Edinburgh College student Aimee Ferrier, who will go on to work with the Floris design team to produce the final cover, as well as receiving a £250 cash prize. The judges commended Aimee’s illustrative style for its appeal to the book’s readership, and loved the humour and detail in her illustration.
Nataša Ilinčić was given the Highly Commended award, and Grisel Miranda won the People’s Choice award for the second year following an online public vote. Each received a £75 cash prize.
Entrants to the Kelpies Design & Illustration Prize 2017 had the opportunity to create a cover design for new children’s novel Ruby McCracken: Tragic Without Magic by Kelpies Prize 2016 winner Elizabeth Ezra. This sassy story about a young witch plunged into the Ordinary World will be published in autumn 2017.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to create an eye-catching book cover that 8 to 12 year olds can’t help but pick up, watch this space for details of the Kelpies Design & Illustration Prize 2018.
