Kurt Puffball

Kurt is a Shroomling: a walking, talking eight-foot mushroom with a spotted cap and a heart of gold. He can often be found roaming the forests with his best friend Flicker, searching for trinkets and treasures from before the Lifting. Despite his considerable size, Kurt is a kind and compassionate soul, and his enormous, solid body makes for an excellent shield and battering ram.

Flicker Von Feldspar

Flicker is a Gemstone Faerie, a proud and glitzy being whose family were formed by the melding of gemstones with magic during the Lifting. Made from pyrite: a silvery-yellow gemstone more commonly know as fool’s gold, she glitters like real gold but is far more brittle and prone to explosive outbursts. What she lacks in size, Flicker more than makes up for in spirit!

Aliana Hawclaw

With her trusted hunting bow and crimson riding cloak, Aliana is training to become a Fowler: a master hunter who can bring even the most dangerous creature to heel. As a wood nymph, her oak-brown skin allows her to blend in seamlessly with the trees. Aliana is fiercely loyal to her twin brother, Garrett, whom she protects from all the dangers of the forest.

Garrett Hawclaw

Cunning and clever, Garrett uses his great intellect and knowledge of life before the Lifting to his advantage. Never one to shy away from a difficult problem, this wood nymph is the brains to his twin sister’s brawn, and he more than makes up for his lack of physical strength with artful plans and schemes. Garrett’s dream is to one day become a scholar at the university in Bastion, and his love of books and learning are positively infectious.

One-Zero

Hailing from somewhere outside Bastion, this silent stranger arrives in the midst of a storm flying in an aeroplane – something that hasn’t been seen for centuries. Carrying a compass that never points north and with an artificial leg powered by the same forbidden technology that has been outlawed in Bastion, One-Zero is immediately feared by its superstitious locals. His presence on the floating island sparks many questions about where he came from and what he wants.

Lycan Turner

A mysterious shapeshifter with a shadowy past, Lycan is able to take on the form of any creature he has seen before, although he prefers to appear as a hulking white wolf. Despite his powers being magical in origin, Lycan has a strong dislike for those who use magic, and he is slow to trust others. Although he is a loner by nature, he takes a shine to Aliana and offers to help her.
